Haul Road Upgrades
WA Surface Mining also offers a full service to upgrade haul roads. This involves surface mining the haul roads to a depth of 200mm. We have achieved excellent results in this area, with reductions in tyre wear delivering huge cost saving benefits and ensuring less downtime and less driver fatigue.
Savings are further compounded by reducing the tyre wear on haul trucks because the mined floors are left level. This allows for a smooth ride and minimal spillage of material.
Mine staff have been amazed at the increase in the lifespan of tyres when WASM has been on site to conduct road maintenance.
Most haul roads are dusty, out of shape from water flow and full of fines at the top. The surface miner goes through the process of turning the large rocks into a road base material and putting the fines on the top back into the base. This creates a homogenous road base mix which increases compaction.
On haul roads that happen to have too much fines material, WASM adds an environmentally friendly product that binds the materials together to achieve compaction and improve traction.
