About Us
WA Surface Mining (WASM) was started by Peter Blackburn in 2006. After a successful 20-year career in the road-milling industry, Peter started up his own road-profiling company, WA Profiling (www.waprofiling.com.au). It was while working with WA Profiling that Peter first came up with the idea of using road profiling machines and applying this technology to mining operations. Out of this, WA Surface Mining was established.
WASM is at the forefront of surface mining in Australia and continues to be one of the most innovative contributors to the development of mining in the region.
WASM has all the equipment, staff and resources to provide a stand-alone service to resource owners and mining contractors. WASM provides the complete surface mining package: technologically advanced machines, experienced operators, maintenance crews, and ongoing research and development. The availability of this stand alone service ensures minimal downtime not only for WASM’s own machines, but also for mining companies who are making the most of WASM’s expertise and success.
The WA Surface Mining team consists of 5 admin staff based in Perth and 20 site-based operational staff. The entire team is committed not only to providing an exceptional service but also to understanding the importance of maintaining long-term relationships within the industry.
